2022.01.17 21:57 stankumellymucho Depop protection
I found some cute shoes from a seller but they don’t have any likes, followers, follow anyone, or any ratings. In their bio, it says to pay with depop payments for protection and says 100% authentic (since they also have a few designer bags for sale) and they they ship the next day. Should I buy the item or not 😭? And which payment method offers more protection if you get scammed/ has better customer service?

2022.01.17 21:57 PornGunsNShenanigans Anyone have any experience with M13 Industries?
Eventually planning on having an AK in 5.56 built out with a definitive arns mag adapter. However Definitive Arns isnt taking any new gunsmith work currently and regardless their wait is over a year people have said. So that leaves the only shop I can find that is willing to do the mag conversion is M13. I know they do good work but just wanna get an idea of other peoples experiences. They say their lead time is currently 18 weeks but I dont know any other shops that will do the DA conversion but if you do let me know.

2022.01.17 21:57 LOP5131 Plumbing Issues
Every faucet drain in the house has started backing up. Within a couple seconds of the water being turned on the sink has a puddle of water. This seems to only be effecting drains from sink faucets. The shower has no backups when ran for extended periods and no issues with the toilets either. We do have a septic system if that makes any difference. It is also below freezing which seems to be a common time for our drains to drain slower.
I'm assuming I just need a plumber to come out to diagnose. Could be roots or some other blockage but was curious if it being sinks only meant anything?

2022.01.17 21:57 ObviousReaction3842 How to make friends
Everyone that I was 'friends' with either used me to get good grades and copy my test or just never liked hanging out with me and leaving me out of things such as parties. People usually don't talk to me since I'm the 'nerd' who sits at the back never talking, and I know that they don't like me nor hate me but I convince myself that they do. The only time people talk to me is when they are asking for help on a question, which sucks because talking to people is the really the only thing that keeps me happy. The question that I'm asking is how do I become more likeable and make friends.

2022.01.17 21:57 Purplekeyboard [Spoilers] Subnautica's lack of a quest system or map
Most games now hold the player's hand extensively, giving them quest markers pointing exactly where to go so that there is no possible way to avoid knowing what to do next.
Subnautica takes the opposite approach, with no map, no quests, and only a few markers pointing to a few underwater bases after hearing a radio transmission or reading a PDA. For the most part, the player is on their own.
I think that ultimately this completely hands off approach doesn't really work, which is why most games have abandoned this.
The idea is that players are supposed to figure everything out on their own through exploration. The reality is that players get tired of endless hours wandering around not knowing what to do next, and 95% of players inevitably turn to google searches, walkthroughs, youtube videos and so on to tell them what to do.
I've played the game twice now, and have probably gone to a google search 20+ times to try to solve various problems. The most extreme example of this is in one of my playthroughs where I was essentially 5 minutes from the end of the game, building the final piece of the Neptune rocket, but I couldn't build the cyclops shield generator. Because it can only be built on a cyclops and I never got the cyclops, because I never found all the fragments I needed to build it.
So a player has two choices: wander around the map at random hoping to stumble upon the key fragment they need or the hidden entrance to some underground area, or do a google search to help them know where to look. And almost all of us turn to the google search.
So effectively the game does have a map and a quest system, they have just been outsourced to the internet. So instead of a proper map, players have to exit the game to see the map. Instead of a quest system, the wiki or youtube videos.
This is not to say that games should all have quest markers pointing them exactly where to go next. But an ingame map is better than a map which has to be found on the internet. A quest system is better than the player wandering around having no idea what they're supposed to be doing, because they missed some key PDA in a Degassi seabase, so they never found the link to the next one, so they never found the lost river.
Now, there will definitely be people who say, "I am one of the 5% who solve the game on their own with no help from the internet, and I like it this way!" But you don't design games for the 5%, you design for the typical player. It would be easy enough to have a difficulty mode which turns off the map and the quest log, so people who want some hardcore exploration experience can have it.
This game was well liked by most players, but I think this is in spite of that lack of a map or quest system, not because of it.

2022.01.17 21:57 Responsible_Tiger_22 Will I regain my energy?
I've been sober from alcohol for two weeks now. I usually drank a half to a full litre of vodka a day just before I stopped. The first week I had a sudden energy boost and I felt pretty good but the second week I've just felt so lazy and unmotivated to do anything. Will I get back to normal if I stay sober? If so how long would it take?

2022.01.17 21:57 malum68 Life is rare:
I often here this argument from many pro positive people. Let’s break this down: we live in a universe in the midst of a likely dark and empty void, we appeared out of nothing and we’re alone, we’re supposed to think of this “rare treasure” as a gift? If someone got struck by lightning would it be considered valuable just because it’s rare? Sure it might get a few articles but it doesn’t truly benefit anyone in the end, not to mention those who are for life end up producing the most horrible results: think of all the people who have been amputated, do they deserve this misery?, I don’t think so, suicide prevention is a tool used my a construct which we created to enslave us (society) and feed the top; so life isn’t a gift, it’s a lightning strike

2022.01.17 21:57 ActNo5151 Does anyone know which section of this code is controlling the physical game object?
I'm creating a script that will change out the material of an object for a different one when prompted. So far the closest I've gotten is this, but this code works ONLY when the script itself is attached to that physical object. The issue with this is that I need this to be remote and not attached so I can edit the materials of multiple different objects from one single script. My question is what part of this code decides what physical object is affected and a follow up question what would I have to do to allow this to be made without having to put the script on the game object? Thank you to anyone who gives their time to this!

The massive shockwave field thing does way too much damage to not cause the fuel cell to explode, killing me instantly. Am I doing something wrong or is my difficulty the issue? I’m on rainstrom but I don’t really want to play drizzle, because it feels kinda cheap idk why
