2021.10.27 14:00 Admirable_Roof_1918 Question about manufacturing/availability
Hello, so I’m not a pharmacist nor do I work in pharmacy, and I will try to be as vague as possible to not violate the rules of this subreddit, but here goes
I have a script that I fill at walgreens, it’s a generic. I go to fill and they tell me that they have been out for two weeks and that they aren’t sure when they’ll be getting more. The earliest they’d have some in is next Tuesday. Additionally they can’t offer any other info on why it’s not available, just that “they have tried ordering it and corporate keeps rejecting the order”. A lot of people take this medication- it’s an ADHD medication- and a lot of Walgreens in the area are encountering the same problem per the pharmacy. I am just wondering what’s going on? Like I said, a lot of people take this drug, so the pharmacy is trying to get more in. They probably have a ton of people waiting to fill. I’m confident they are not to blame- I’ve been filling with them for like 10 years now. They’ve always been great. Is there a problem with the manufacturing? Is there a shortage? Why am I having such a difficult time finding any information online? It’s very frustrating because I have no options and am completely in the dark about what’s causing this.
Anyone that can shed some light on this, please chime in.

2021.10.27 14:00 BlingDaddyKong Has anyone else noticed restaurants disappearing from the Uber Eats app?
I noticed I hadn’t been getting any orders from the Firehouse Subs and Panera Bread that used to provide me with a ton of deliveries. I checked the UE ordering app, and Firehouse is gone and it says Panera is closed (it’s not). My guess is these places don’t have the staff to keep up with orders and probably had lots of food not picked up due to low payouts.

2021.10.27 14:00 crumjd A Glitch in the System - 6
FIRST PART | PREVIOUS
From inside the heating vents a small black gingerbread man watched the conversation and he didn’t think the possibility of assassinations was so far fetched.
Eric had arrived at the Alien complex the previous day. In the end, he’d landed only 400 kilometres away from the compound. That was practically on top of it given the lack of control surfaces on his lander form; he’d already made back nearly two years of his savings selling the designs.
He’d then used a walking form to cover the remainder of the distance. From there it had been relatively easy to infiltrate the compound. Whatever T’Val said about the sensitive nature of the research, they clearly weren’t expecting anyone to sneak in.
Then there had been a murder!
Eric had just been settling in, listening to things, trying to learn the layout of the base and decide what was most interesting when suddenly a bunch of scientists had been expelled from their labs and security guards had started rushing around. He had no idea what had been going on. Fortunately, he wasn’t alone in that and it hadn’t taken long for him to overhear a conversation about the fate of Senior Researcher Zick.
He’d beat T’Val to the site of the murder and took some pretty exhaustive scans of the remains before he’d had to skitter back into a heating duct to avoid being discovered. Still, that had provided a good vantage point to watch the subsequent discussion play out.
Now that it seemed to be over, Eric was thinking through what the odd being had said. If Zick had been at all close to determining what might have caused the flat zone then humans benefited greatly from the researcher's death.
In some ways, human technology was more advanced than the galactic standard. The human obsession with electronics, robotics, telepresence, and self-replication was unique in a galaxy where most races figured out how to travel to nearby stars around when mankind was making its moon shot. However, in other ways, humans were behind and unfortunately those ways included transportation and weapons. Without the virtually unassailable fortress of the flat zone mankind might rapidly find themselves under the thumb of another more powerful group.
That was “motive.”
Means was equally simple. Put a camera on the ceiling and wait until someone typed in their password. Use your brand new admin access to trigger the gravity chamber and then erase the logs of having done so. Humanity had been studying the alien computer systems for 10 years and could do more ore less whatever we wanted to with them. It would be equally easy to keep the room shut as Zick struggled to get out of it. Just fold a probe body into a super-strong cable to hold the door shut.
Opportunity was somewhat trickier.
To the best of his knowledge, Eric was the only human in the alien complex at the moment. The other streamers had jumped on warp vessels and headed deeper into alien space. But was it really believable that the governments of mankind hadn’t put a spy on the base that was researching our home turf?
Eric decided to see if he could figure out who really killed Zick. If nothing else the viewers would love it.
* * *
Eric crawled through the duct work of the alien structure and it was incredible.
Sneaking around through the ventilation system had been a feature of human cinema for almost as long as there had been human cinema. It had always been preposterous. There were very few places in any given building which might have accommodated an adult human. The central shaft of a very large building, maybe. But that would be vertical, it would fail under human weight, nails would poke through it at regular intervals, and if someone could crawl through it they’d come out looking like a chimney sweep - mainly because they’d have just crawled through a chimney.
No, it wasn’t practical. For a human. For Eric’s tiny gingerbread man the duct work of the alien facility provided a highway that reached every room without any danger of being spotted. And so Eric came to be looking down through a wire mesh at the investigator, while T’Val questioned Zick’s known associates.
The investigator cut a profoundly alien figure. The surface of its body was hard as though it was covered in a shell or chitin, but whatever the substance was, it didn’t crack from ordinary wear and tear. Instead, it had frayed apart into tiny hairs that most resembled felt. It had four limbs, like a human, and even something like a head that grew from the center of its chest on a long flexible neck. That gave it a posture somewhat like a human. Unlike a human, its joints seemed capable of folding totally over in any direction. Its moves were wince inducingingly flexible.
The questions it asked of the subjects of its investigation were a similar blend of the mundane and the extraordinary. “Was Zick’s work a threat to anyone?” No, all the other experts agreed, Zick was studying the least threatening explanation for the flat zone. “Are you aware of any mating conflicts she might have experienced?” No, her species didn’t seek emotional attachment in mating, and anyway, she wasn’t in season.
Some questions were harder, but not impossible for a human to understand. “Were there any honor debts against her?” Not to the knowledge of anyone at the facility. Anyway, when the mission had been put together Confederacy personnel experts would have checked for such things. “Might she have been the victim of a sanctioned assassination?” Probably not, that sort of thing was typically the result of breaking law or custom in a backwater world that held to a legal code most beings wouldn’t understand. Zick had stuck to the core planets where what past for a common legal and cultural framework in the confederacy held sway
Finally there were some questions that didn’t translate to human concepts. “Might someone have felt vlarn toward her? Could she have been the subject of Kreth-Leth?” When those questions had been asked of the species that apparently had such concepts Eric had to look them up because gTranslate had refused to render them to any one human word. “Vlarn” was an emotion like a phobia and it could lead the creature who experienced the vlarn to destroy whatever triggered it. But it was completely aesthetic without the fear component and the species who experienced it weren’t particularly regular in what could trigger it. It seemed closest to the human experience of trypophobia.
Kreth-Leth was even stranger. The closest Eric could get to understanding it was that it was some sort of astoundingly violent practical joke, or perhaps artistic expression. Among the race that practiced it, the act was considered illegal and wrong, but some of them would still sympathize if the crime was carried out with enough panache. Honestly, just trying to climb down that rabbit hole made Eric kind of thankful for the flat zone.
After nearly 10 hours T’Val had questioned everyone. Eric wasn’t certain what he’d learned. There was certainly no Perry Mason moment where a suspect broke and started yelling that they’d done it and Zick had deserved it and the coppers would never take them alive. Still, Eric wasn’t a professional investigator. Towards the end T’Val had seemed to zero in on something but Eric wasn’t certain what.

2021.10.27 14:00 CraftSimilar4484 Resolution options in games
Beginner game developer here. I had a question about resolution options. Currently I am making a 2d pixel top down game. My question is about resolution options. I am developing in 1920x1080 and I am planning on scaling down. Was this a mistake and should I have instead developed on the lowest resolution option then scaled up? My goal is to maintain graphics quality throughout resolution changes as much as possible. Moreover, should I be treating aspect ratios as seperate cases, for instance, 4:3 as different from 16:9? I have seen some posts on game dev forums about this, but I have seen both yes and no answers. Thank you in advance!
